All our digital products are designed to be printed at home. The method of printing will depend on the layout of the file and type of printer you are using.
Trifold pamphlets
To print trifold pamphlets, pick the paper size that best suits you (A4 or US letter) and print the two pages back-to-back on the same sheet, making sure to have both sides printed the same way up. Once printed, fold between each panel into a trifold pamphlet format.
Note that this doesn’t include A5 trifold pamphlets. For products in that format, use alternative layouts mentioned below.
Bifold pamphlets
Bifold pamphlets are double-sided pages that you fold in half. Pick the paper size that best suits you (A4 or US letter) and print the pages back-to-back, making sure to have both sides printed the same way up. Once printed, fold the page in half with the cover on the outside.
Booklets
Some products are available in booklet format – this is for files with 6+ pages ordered especially so they can be printed in a booklet that can be folded and stapled together. Note that files with six pages have two blank pages added in (one inside each cover) to make a booklet layout possible.
Print on the correct paper size (usually A4 or US letter), keeping sheets stacked in the order they print. If necessary, trim any white borders around the edge, keeping the pages aligned with each other.
To fold and bind, hold the pile of pages with the front cover on the right. Fold in half to the back from left-to-right. Crease the fold firmly and staple the spine.
Other formats
While other formats like spreads, singles, or A5 trifold are generally designed for viewing digitally, they can also be used for more specialised printing layouts. You are welcome to use these for printing if they work for your needs.
Other assets
Maps, item sheets, character sheets, and other assets can be printed on standard paper as needed, with no folds required. If no paper size is specified in the file name, they are A4 size.
Troubleshooting
Here are some common issues with printing and how to overcome them.
Folds or page alignment are incorrect
To sort out folding and alignment issues, make sure your page size is set correctly (A4 or US letter), and then check any scaling your print application is applying. Look for a Scale section and set it to Actual size or 100%.
Some content is cut off around the edge
While white borders around page edges are normal as most printers don’t print to the edge of the page, content being cut off is not what you want. If this happens, you can try setting the Scale in the printer settings to Scale to fit or Fit page (or similar). You can also manually set the scale percentage to 90% or thereabouts.
